Telangana is intensifying its push to strengthen Hyderabad’s position as India’s leading Global Capability Centre (GCC) hub, with the state government formally reaching out to Elon Musk-owned Starlink to explore setting up an engineering GCC in Hyderabad. This strategic outreach underscores Telangana’s ambition to attract next-generation technology, satellite communications, and deep-engineering operations, GCC jobs in Hyderabad into the state.
Government sources indicate that the engagement with Starlink is part of a broader plan to position Hyderabad as a global base for engineering, product development, AI, telecom, and space-tech GCCs. While India already has widespread and affordable 5G connectivity, policymakers believe satellite-based services like Starlink can unlock new institutional, enterprise, defence, disaster management, and remote connectivity use cases, making Hyderabad a strong candidate for such advanced engineering centres.
Alongside Starlink, Telangana is also in discussions with US telecom major T-Mobile to evaluate a potential GCC in Hyderabad. These moves come at a time when Telangana has reportedly attracted over 75 greenfield GCCs in 2025, overtaking Karnataka and firmly establishing Hyderabad as a rising leader in India’s GCC ecosystem.
